At its recent Tally & Rally campaign breakfast, United Way of Palm Beach County celebrated its fund-raising accomplishments for the year, announcing it raised $12,771,041 during its 2008-2009 campaign. The dollars raised represent a combination of funds received from grants, individual and corporate workplace campaigns, including leadership gifts from United Way of Palm Beach County's Tocqueville Society members.

At the breakfast, 2008-2009 Campaign Chair Michael Spears thanked guests for their support and donations. Spears is the CIO and Chief Data Officer at NCCI Holdings, Inc in Boca Raton.

United Way recognized Spears, other key volunteers and Top 10 Corporate Campaigns. That is, local companies and their employees who raise the most funds for United Way of Palm Beach County. Those companies are:

1. Publix Super Markets & Publix Charities - raising $1,722,882 in Palm Beach County alone!

4. The School District of Palm Beach County

5. Palm Beach County

6. Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne

9. The Palm Beach Post/Pennysaver/La Palma

10. Macy's

Guests were introduced to the incoming 2009-2010 campaign chairman, Donn Colee of Donn Colee Consulting LLC. Colee provided inspirational words, rallying the crowd for what will be another challenging year.
