The Annual Grand Slam/Castaway KDW Fishing Tournament is slated for Saturday, May 12, 2007 from 7 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Each year, the annual Grand Slam fishing tournament gets bigger and better and 2007 is no exception.

This marks the eleventh year that this family tournament has been the highlight of spring fishing events in South Florida.

A Grand Prize, valued at over $14,000, will be awarded to the angler reeling in the largest tournament fish at this years' event.

"We have tripled the value of this years grand prize to $10,000 in cash and will include a Lowrance LCX111C GPS Fishfinder valued at $2,500.00, two Sunrise Canvas Bean Bag Chairs valued at $600, the Gatsbys VIP party for 25 valued at $250, and the winning fish will be mounted by Gray Taxidermy valued at $900," said Scott Nichols, tournament director. "We've also added a second weigh-in location. In addition to the Castaway Marina in Jupiter, anglers from South County will be able to weigh-in at Sailfish Marina on Singer Island."

Each year, over $35,000 in cash and prizes are awarded to participating anglers at the Awards BBQ/Raffle featuring a Billy & Dari Bowman & Friends BBQ to be held at Carlin Park from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The Captain's Meeting is Friday, May 11 from 6-7 p.m. in Carlin Park. Boat registration is $200 per boat through April 30; late boat registration after April 30th is $250 per boat.

Entry fee includes four tickets to the Awards/Raffle BBQ.

Proceeds will benefit Coastal Conservation Association and Seagull Industries for the Disabled.
