On July 6th, the Islamorada Fishing Club hosted the 2nd Annual Junior Dolphin Tournament. William and Sarah Warner, of Jupiter Farms competed on "Team Robbie's Marina" along with their friends Carley Stanley, Anna and Robbie Reckwerdt. Their team won the tournament with an aggregate weight of 99.5 lbs for their top three catches. William Warner (age 10) also won the trophy for Largest Catch with a 54.5lb dolphin! The winning catch took almost 40 minutes to reel in and was the last catch of the day. William says that the entire experience from start to finish was "Totally Awesome!"
The team competed on The Islamorada Lady II out of Robbie's Marina and Jeff Everson was their Captain. Joe and Capt. Sky acted as 1st mates. Despite 8 to 10 foot seas, all the children (ages 4-10) stuck it out and caught at least one dolphin. Team Robbie fished all day and returned to the Islamorada Fishing Club for weigh in with only 8 minutes to spare. A great time was had by all, largely due to an amazing captain and crew! It was an experience of a lifetime...
