A "GREY" DAY AT THE FUR SEASONS
Contributed by: Drue Pollack on 4/21/2008

More than a dozen greyhounds and their owners gathered at The Fur Seasons in Stuart recently for a Meet & Greet. Many greyhounds are in need of forever homes after they retire from racing. The event was held so that people could learn about adopting greyhounds and have an opportunity to interact with them... and to have a good time. Greyhound owners came with their pets and shared their experiences with those interested in adoption.

Greyhound Pets of America/South Florida Chapter sponsored the day's activities which included a presentation by Bob Salt of Greyhound Pets of America, a slide show created by Leslie Haviland-Smith, contests between the dogs and the awarding of prizes. The judges were Tom Rooney, Carolyn Davi, and Jayme Uteschill. Jack of Palm City won for the Longest Tail, Molly of Palm City won for having the Best Smile, Effie from Jensen Beach had the Smallest Waist, Britney was the Smallest Greyhound, and Teddy was the Largest Dog. Prizes were generously contributed by The Haute Hound and Starbarks Bakery of Jupiter, Wendie Berardi of Healthy Pet Net, and The Fur Seasons.

The day was topped off by a romp in Central Bark, The Fur Seasons' dog park, and a swim in the pool. Greyhound boarders Cody, Taurus, and Effie joined in the fun.

Several guests at the event said they plan to adopt greyhounds in the near future. Everyone, including the greyhounds, deemed the event a success!
