Jixxer is a 3 year old boy that is hearing impared. He is very well mannered and friendly. Jixxer lived in a home his whole life, until the owners recently decided that they would no longer have time for him anymore. This is a sad reality for most dogs; as a lot of people see a cute puppy and never think about the life long committment to the pet's needs. Even though he is deaf, he gets around normally like any dog. It is a myth that they cannot be trained like other dogs, as many deaf dogs even do some "doggy sports" such as scent tracking, water sports, and even agility! Jixxer is a favorite at the shelter, please call and ask about him at 561-747-1598, ext. 4.
Sweetie Pie was surrendered by her owner because he refused to care for them anymore; his dogs had become a burden to him. This is a horrible thing to hear someone say about a pet they supposedly once loved, yet it is a common reality that our staff and the staff of other shelters across America hear everday. Sweetie Pie is appropriately named, and is around 7 years of age. She qualifies for our senior pet discount program, in which the adopter recieves special discounts on certain veterinary care for the life of the pet in our veterinary hospital. Cats and dogs adopted from Safe Harbor qualify by simply being 7 years of age or older. To inquire about this program, either call us at 747-1598, ext. 4, or ask us in person, perhaps when you are visiting sweet little Sweetie Pie!
