Painting Jupiter On Her Canvas
Contributed by: MB Hague on 4/13/2008

Jupiter is Unique. We feel it, we say it, and we know it. But local artist, Rose Tallman, wanted us to SEE it. When she was approached by The Great Frame Up, a community custom picture frame shop, to collaborate on a commemorative lithograph, Rose did not hesitate. When planning the original layout, Rose and MB Hague, owner of The Great Frame Up, partnered to identify much of what still sets Jupiter apart from our southern neighbors. Thankfully, the Town of Jupiter has put consistent and admirable effort into keeping what is "Uniquely Jupiter" and preserving a small town feel. "I really enjoyed the creative process as I researched, photographed, and painted each special place of business," stated Rose as her finished piece was being prepared for the lithograph copy. "We are excited to share the reproduction for the public to enjoy". Rose has an artistic style that is a perfect fit for this type of rendering. For the few that have seen the painting, it's fun to see the reactions as they discover everything that is depicted. "There wasn't room for everything, but no artist feels that her/his work is ever truly finished or complete," explained Rose. "What is important is that we continue to support all of Jupiter's places of interest and the small businesses that give our area its charm and the reason that we all settled here initially."
The whole project was pursued without any other business partners or financial support. MB had suggested the idea to the Northern Palm Beach County Chamber of Commerce when she was invited to serve on the artist and subject matter selection committee for the ArtFest 2008 print. When that did not go forward, she decided to proceed on her own with Rose.
Rose's canvas, aptly titled "Uniquely Jupiter," will be displayed and a framed print presented as a gift to the Town at the May 6th Council Meeting. Prints will be available for purchase at The Great Frame Up, 75 Indiantown Rd., in the Concourse Village Shopping Center, 747-3066 or through Rose Tallman 758-5007. Residents will be able to meet Rose and see her original painting at The Taste of the Tropics Riverwalk Event, April 26.
