The Rats are attempting to Guard the Cheeze!
Contributed by: Capt Dominic Addario on 6/30/2008

State bureaucracy is out of control

. It is time to blow the smoke away. Public officials in Tallahassee are using orchestrated media releases and the concept and guise of "protecting the public trust", to further their own interest groups professional job opportunities and sorted ends.

On June 27 th, 2008 an article by Michael Peltier was put to print. Decidedly one sided, it appears to be orchestrated as a propaganda document - smacking with examples of "yellow journalism". Using the "public ownership" concept as innuendo, so as to suggest something is being stolen is a prime example of miss-leading the public. Lost or abandoned items or cargo is just that - lost and or abandoned. Our legal system allows a proper chain of title to be followed. Public employees using the public ownership argument is socialism or even worse - fascism and an example of state capitalism. Suggesting salvers may be desecrating watery grave sites is another clear example. People have been dieing or meeting with untimely ends since the beginning of our existence upon Earth. Our whole planet is a potential grave site!

A few overzealous administrative archaeologists employed within the State, displaying personal control issues, have finally gone too far. They now are attempting to use the universal fear of "death" and the public's misconception of "war graves concept", to dupe those within the legislature and the public at large, into giving them the ultimate say so on who gets to discover anything under water, both in the present and future. In an attempt to paint a picture of private sector undersea explorers or salvers as dastardly cretins and grave robbers - they are now attempting to re write administrative law concerning the salvaging of a shipwreck's cargo so as to insure job security and financial opportunities for their own professional cronies and to, thus ultimately exclude the private sector from the process except under their terms.

The truth of the matter is most shipwrecks as a unit no longer exist. What still may exist is a portion of their cargo and possibly some remnants of their scattered remains. The true "treasure" or value these events contain is the ability of capturing the public's imagination and interest with the enigma of their study. Those in public employ - with the job security that goes along with it, have little understanding of how to channel this natural public interest and educational opportunity for the public benefit. Most of the time, excavating an event along our weather coast, nothing is found but modern debris. It is completely unnecessary to have the added the expense of having a professional archeologist on board. The only benefit of this proposal is to the archaeological community for future job security of their own cronies.

Please give your readers the right to look and see here what is actually happening.

Sincerely,

Captain Dominic A. Addario

p.s. I am finalizing treaties entitled "A Guide to Responsible Undersea Exploration". It is authored in the good spirit to educate and inform the diving public about a facet of the world underwater they may become exposed to and how to responsibly deal with happening across what is perceived to be a hither too, undiscovered item, possibly leading to an unknown or lost event. A transcript of it is available for your review at the publishers request at: www.adventuresindiscovery.com
