Who says young kids can't win Triathlons. Denver Aranda 7 year old competed in his first triathlon and won his division and was 30 th overall on September 15, 2007. The race was in Pembroke Pines at CB Smith Park by South Florida Triathlon Series.
After his dad took him to a triathlon in Jupiter, he wanted to race in one. Denver would wake up with his dad to train in the mornings and when he got back home after school with his brother running, biking and swimming in anticipation to compete in his first triathlon. On the morning of the race he was up at 5:00am ready to drive down to North Miami for the starting of the race at 7:00am. Once at the race site, Denver got his bike and gear ready along with his swimming goggles.
The race was 1.65 mile run, 5 mile bike and 500 feet swim which he did in 44:21 which allowed him to win his division males 8U. When he crossed the finish line he said "I did it daddy" with a look of accomplishment and excitement. He then asked when he can do his next race. He is currently training for his next triathlon in October.
After the race and awards, he then played his Tiny Mite football game as quarterback and middle line backer at 11:00am in Jupiter.
Great work.
