The Astros ran into a hitting duel at their home field in the Farms against the Angels.
The Angels came up first and kept the bases loaded even though the Astros made some great infield plays. Josh "Too Big" Williams, playing pitcher, scooped up a grounder and fired it home to AJ "Moose" Riczko almost getting the out at home. Charlie "Slugfest" Stuve made an awesome play running down the baserunner at first and Christopher "Playin Up" Radice handled a hard grounder and fired a perfect strike to first.
The Astros came up to bat and followed the Angels lead by going on their own batting tear. As the bases were loaded Grady "Big Dawg" Vandiver II, Dan "The Man" Alarie, Matt "Beast" Lavallee and Taylor "Turtle" Leonard all had base hits for RBI's driving in four runs.
The second inning was led defensively by Ryan "Wild Thing" Svopa who kept stopping one hit after another at the pitcher position.
The Astros bats stayed hot as inning two progressed with Ronnie "Rocket" Worley, Mark "Quick" Silver, AJ, Grady and Josh allgetting RBI's for five runs and ending the inning.
The third inning was a bit of a cease fire for both teams but the inning was highlighted when Taylor almost had an ESPN moment charging a fly pop that just slipped from his glove. Nice try!
The forth inning was back to batting businesfor both teams as eight runs were scored.
Even having to go without the Astros hitting leader ,Ruairi "Rip Roarin" Murphy, the team had an average of .787 with six players batting .1000. The team is also looking forward to the return of Brian "No Fear" Nichols who's been on IR.
After this game the JTAA will need to send both teams new game balls since the kids knocked the covers off the old ones!
