We care, that's who!
There is no end to the need for people to be advocates for something or someone. Open the newspaper, pick a story and become outraged enough to make a difference. Sounds easy enough, but so few people actually take action that our nation is crippled by it. Rumor has it we are so complacent, so apathetic, so lazy that we are ripe for invasion. Who cares?
We care. You care too. But what can one person do, right? More than you think.
And it starts in your home town.
Our independence wasn't won by hiring other people to do the job, it was a volunteer effort. That's right folks, good old' fashioned free service to the public. The militias were not paid to fight; they fought because it was necessary to preserve what they believed in.
Starting at home, we look at what takes place in our community that requires the efforts of a huge volume of volunteers, of which very few people know of or can appreciate, that of the Jupiter Tequesta Athletic Association. To the outsider or the inexperienced participant, JTAA might seem like a Town of Jupiter entity. The reality is that the program is managed by a volunteer elected executive committee and volunteer sports committees. Each sport operates under JTAA bylaws and policies as a non-profit organization and acts on behalf of the Town of Jupiter for the purpose of providing quality sports for boys and girls nearly year round. JTAA brings families and communities together for the good of the kids. The success of this format is evident in the large number of recreational and competitive players that return to play each year.
There are various levels of service and the 80/20 rule still applies, but overall the parents commit to being involved and the leadership that blossoms does spill over into other aspects of Jupiter community service. What is not always possible is getting the membership of JTAA to voice their opinion, something that mirrors our nations' lack of participation in the elections. Policies, opinions and purpose change and impact the membership directly, most just accepting the circumstances without fully understanding how or why things happen as they do. The best chance for having a great athletic program, a great town or a great nation is not to be a slave to circumstance, but to seek information and to be actively involved. We ask that the membership get involved with the shaping of the next generation of youth athletes in Jupiter by participating in the next policy meeting held by and for the membership. Our executive committee depends on the membership to give it direction, something that has not been happening with any regularity. The evolution of sports in Jupiter needs you, the importance of shaping our youth cannot be overlooked.
The next meeting for the membership of Jupiter Tequesta Athletic Association will be held at JCP North Room at 7:00 p.m. on August 14 th. Getting involved with positive change is the foundation for great things in Jupiter
What example are you setting if you choose not to participate? Be a part of the solution, not a part of the problem.
Thank you for your time.
