The Jupiter 12U, 13U and 13U allstar teams are heading for Southeast Regional allstar tournament play after winning their respective Cal Ripken/Babe Ruth League State tournaments. This is the first time for JTAA that three teams have advanced to regional play. at the same time.
The 12U Jupiter allstars, managed by Roy Ward, qualified for the state tournament held in Tavares, Florida by winning the District tournament held in Okeeheelee. Florida. The team went 4-1 in state tournament play. Jupiter defeated Altamonte Sprints 7-4 to advance to the championship game against the same team. Jupiter lost 11-7 forcing a double elimination game between the same two teams. Jupiter won the final game 7-4 with Cody Wilson's grad slam home run and a two run homerun by Pavin Smith. Starting pitcher, Lance Fry pitched a complete game with 12 strike outs to get the win. Jupiter 12U begins regional play on July 24 th in Matthews, North Carolina.
The Jupiter 13U and 14U allstars hosted that Babe Ruth South Florida State tournament at Abacoa this past weekend. The 13U team, managed by Guy Casaceli, were 4-0 in tournament play. They defeated Bellview 15-5, Okeeheelee 7-1 and Latino Americana from Miami 2-0. The game against the Miami team was a pitcher's duel with Latino Americana's pitcher throwing a no-hitter. Jupiter's runs were scored on an error after walking the two base runners. Jupiter pitcher, Cheyne Bickel gave up one hit and struck out 13 batters for the win.
Latino Americano and Jupiter met again in the championship game. Jupiter won 3-2 with Robert Moss pitching 6 innings and Ronnie Healy comingin to retire the side in the 7th. The teamadvances to the Babe Ruth League Southeast Regional tournament in Live Oak, Florida. They are scheduled to begin play on July 31 against the Union County American, the Western North Carolina state champion.
Similar to the 13U allstars the 14U team, managed by John Ober, went 4-0 in tournament play. They defeated the Fishhawk team, out of Tampa, Florida 10-0 and Palatka 7-4. It took extra innings to defeat Okeeheelee 6-5 to advance to the championship game against Latino Americana. The Jupiter 14U allstars easily handled the Miami team defeating them 14-1.
The Jupiter 14U allstar team advances to regional tournament play in Theodore, Alabama beginning July 31 against the state champion of Western North Carolina.
