Pee Wee White Mustangs 118-0 in four game streak!
Contributed by: Tim Derrico on 9/30/2009

There are good opening seasons and then there are great opening seasons. This year the Pee Wee White Mustangs sponsored by The Waterway Cafe are experiencing something great. Their hard work at practices and focus during the games is paying off as they head towards the 5th game of the season.

Head Coach Dan Schlager has a way of motivating kids and getting them to not only put out their best effort, but he gets them to want to do it. He teaches them the game of football but also is molding them into responsible young men.

The opening game was against the Ft. Pierce Greyhounds. It was played in the rain and was a dominating defensive performance by the Mustangs ending in a 21-0 victory. Next up was the Palm City White Dolphins and the Mustangs began to really come together as a team. They scored on every offensive possession and held the Dolphins to only 3 first downs the entire game with a final score of 33-0. Game3 was against Port St. Lucie Blue and the teams confidence was beginning to show. Again they scored on each possession with a final score of 32-0 .

Which brings us to the past week's competition against Palm City Teal. The Mustangs scored within the first minute of the game on a Tyler Coliskey running play. Max Jones kicked a perfect onside kick which was recovered on a high bounce by Alex Derrico. A few moments later Drew Lipscher threw a 20 yard pass to Devon Bradford which set up the 2nd touchdown run for Tyler Coliskey.

Thomas Talenti ran the ball several times and moved the Mustangs right down the field again. His runs were set up by great blocking from Eric Gvozdenovich, Chandler Holroyd, Kyle Forbes, Richard Bowden, Grant Wrightson, Jacob Skulski and Brian Butts. Tyler Colisky had a 35 yard gain and took it in for another score before the half. Drew LIpscher completed a pass to Devon Bradford for the extra point and it was 20-0 at halftime.

The Dolphins had the ball and were moving down the field at the beginning of the 3rd quarter. Then the Mustangs defense led by Kane Cochran, Alex Derrico, Max Jones, Brett Messler and Zach Drumheller began to stop them. Then in a dramatic effort by Tyler Colisky they were intercepted at the 25 yard line. Thomas Talenti then took over and drove the ball down the field with great blocking by Mikey Lay, Ryan Norris, Keandre Lillard, Kyle Meehan, T.J. Hawker and Martest Sheffield. Mikey Layalso had a long high-stepping sprint for a huge gain. The Mustangs didn't score on this drive however shortly after the Dolphins got possession of the ball Devon Bradford made an amazing interception which led to a Drew Lipscher pass to Alex Derrico and a 4th touchdown on a running play to Devon Bradford bringing the score to 26-0.

The Dolphins tried to hold onto the ball but fumbled with only a few minutes left and the Mustangs Kane Cochran recovered the ball. Then with only seconds left on the clock, Tyler Colisky ran for 50 yards and scored the final touchdown completing the shut-out at 32-0.
