The Pee Wee White Mustangs coached by Dan Schlager and sponsored by The Waterway Cafe played the Martin County Bulldogs in the final regular season game last Saturday. The Bulldogs won the toss and deferred to the Mustangs. After getting the ball on the 40 Thomas Talenti had a big run down to the 15 yard line. A wedge play to the 5 yard line and a play later the games first touchdown. A
Mikey Lay
pass to
Drew Lipcher
for the extra point and it was 7-0 and the end of the first quarter.
The 2nd quarter began with a few possession turnovers on downs and then
Devon Bradford
intercepted on the 2 yard line.
Thomas Talenti
runs it out for 10 yards,
Coliskey
for another 20 but no score before the half.
The 2nd half began with the White team kicking and the Bulldogs running it back for a touchdown but no extra point, score 7-6. Several big plays and lots of first downs and even another interception by
Bradford
but no score in the third quarter by either team.
The last quarter started with a power wedge by
Mikey Lay
and what appeared to be a score, however was later denied by the referees. A few plays later the ball was stripped by the Bulldogs and they took it all the way down for a touchdown bringing the score to 14-7. Then on a
Drew Lipscher
pass to
Alex Derrico
the Mustangs were o the 40 yard line.
Max Jones
ran the ball to the 10 yards line and then instead of a score, the Mustangs fumbled and the Bulldogs recovered.
The Mustangs defense held them on the 10 yard line and it was turned back over to White on downs.
Jones
takes in in for a touchdown and
Talenti
the extra point tying up the score at 14-14 with a minute left in regulation time. The defense held them and time ran out with a tie.
The Overtime allows four plays for each team from the 20 yard line. The Bulldogs had the ball first and on four trys got zero yards. The Mustangs got the ball and
Jones
ran to the 1 yard line and then
Talenti
took it in for the winnning touchdown. This win advanced the Pee Wee White Mustangs to the first round of playoffs against the Jupiter Gold team on Wednesday October 28th.
