The 13 and under JTAA all star team left this morning at 3:30 AM for the Babe Ruth World Series in New Jersey. The JTAA team won the Southeast United States Regional tournament last week in Williamsburg and will represent the six southeastern states against the other seven regional US winners. Their first game is Friday against Pacific Southwest.
The "All-Star" limousine service picked up the 13 players and 3 coaches in Jupiter at 3:30 AM and took them to the Ft Lauderdale airport for the flight to New Jersey. A team parent followed the limo to the airport with their luggage and batbags. It looked like the truck in the opening scene of the Beverly Hillbillies.
When the players arrive in new Jersey they will meet their host families and get checked in with the Babe Ruth League.
The tournament requires players to stay with local host families instead of with their parents in hotels as they are used to from prior tournaments. The host families are excited about being part of the tournament and they and their friends have "adopted" our team. We expect a strong local cheering section and are bringing a supply of team hats for them.
We have three host families that are huge supporters of the their local league. The first has just completed construction of a 12,000 square foot house and will be hosting 7 players. they have two young sons who will be our batboys. The other two families each have sons that played on a team that made the 13U World Series in 2004 and they will host 4 and 2 players. The host families are long-time friends and have planned activities to get the players together in one place each day after the games. They are responsible for meals, laundry and transportation, in addition to housing. We all expect it to be a great experience for everyone.
Wednesday will be a busy day with multiple skills competitions and a banquet for 1000 at night. I'll post another update at that time.

Hey guys...get it done up there. Corbitt and Harris, I'm missing you at football! I knew that you guys were solid from top to bottom. Tell Coach Walsh and the rest of the guys, congrats.
