Music, music, and more music!
Contributed by: Terese Ternullo on 4/18/2007

It's all about the music! The next few months are going to be a very exciting time in the Caribbean! There are many music festivals to choose from, in fact, too numerous to mention!

Everyone loves music of one sort or another, and the island nations of the Caribbean know that. One of the biggest musical events coming up is the St. Lucia Jazz Festival. This festival takes place from May 4 to 13, 2007. The Jazz Festival encompasses multiple shows of acoustical and straight ahead jazz, new age jazz, fusion and rhythm & blues. There will be acts from the United States, Africa, The Caribbean, Latin America and Europe. The shows range from formal performances to intimate, late night open-air venues and late nightclub venues to open-air picnic style events, which allow the Saint Lucia Jazz to offer unparallel variety and ambience. Many hotels are offering special packages, which include accommodations and tickets to the various jazz performances.

More options available are: Curacao is hosting their Jazz Festival May 26 th and 26th. Don't let the small size of the island fool you! This two-day jazz extravaganza organized by the Curacao Jazz Foundation draws top international performers as well as local talents.

The British Virgin Islands Music Fest in Tortola is taking place May 25 th through the 28 th. "Where the sound of music meets the sound of nature." World-renowned artists will be performing at this beachfront venue.

Jamaica has not one, but two big music events this summer. The Ocho Rios Jazz Festival runs June 10 th through the 17 th, while Reggae Sumfest (which replaced Reggae Sunsplash a few years ago) takes place July 15 th through 21 st in Montego Bay.

The Tranquility Jazz Festival, November 8 th through the 11 th is in Anguilla. This year there will be regional and international musicians performing.

The choices are almost endless in the Caribbean! Sit back, relax, close your eyes and listen to the steel drums while you wiggle your toes in the powder-white sand. Hug your loved one while swaying to light jazz sounds under the deep blue twinkling skies of the islands. The Caribbean Islands are perfect for "Turning Dreams Into Memories!"
