How many times have we seen wonderful photos of the Taj Mal, one of the wonders of the modern world. It is full of mystery and certainly on every travelers wish list to visit as they journey the world.
What a thrill it was to arrive in Agra in April the month of our 45th anniversary to celebrate our love story and learn more about the Taj Mahal love story.
The story of the Taj is one of love and sorrow, and a monument to true love. Emperor Shah Jahan was so in love with his beautiful wife Mumtar but when she gave birth to their 14th child she died and he was so devastated within weeks all his hair turned grey.
In 1648, he decided to build the huge marble Taj Mahal on the banks of the river Yamuna as an immortal tribute to the memory of his beloved wife. The walls are adorned with inscriptions and encrusted with flowery designs of inlaid precious stones. He also built a private marble palace by the Taj Mahal.
We even sat and were photoed on the bench where the late Diana, Princess of Wales, sat when she visited the mausoleum in 1992 on an official state visit to India. Come along and enjoy this beautiful wonder with us.
