Contributed by: Rossana McCrate on 6/14/2008

Nathalie McCrate, a 10th grader at Jupiter High School won the the 27th annual Congressional Arts Competiton for the House of Representatives' 22nd District of Florida. Her artwork, titled "The Brink", depicts a natural area and urban sprawl side by side; an interesting, yet common parallel here in Florida. Nathalie is an involved student in the Jupiter Environmental Research and Field Studies Academy. Her experiences in this program inspired her artwork.
This is the 27th year of the competition, which is open to all high school students. The winning entries from participating congressional districts will be exihbited in the tunnel leading to the United States Capitol Building in Washington D.C. for one year. Nathalie and her father, Sean McCrate, will be in Washington on June 25th to attend the opening ceremony and luncheon reception. 22nd District's Congressman Ron Klein met Nathalie and her father at the Norton Museum on June 4th, where he presented her with a certificate of Congressional recognition.
