We were cycling through Riverbend Park at 7 a.m. looking for the herd of deer. We had heard that there was a very young fawn and went there especially to photograph her.
Near the feeder on Wildlife Loop we found this cute spotted fawn playing with a small grey squirrel. The squirrel would tease the fawn by nibbling at her nose. When the fawn responded both would race around each other, just like kids anywhere.
The squirrel watched us from the safety of a nearby Palm while the fawn stared at us. Her father, sporting a magnificent rack grazed nearby, totally unafraid. It seemed that he knew we are nature lovers.
These deer are well fed and in very good condition. The herd is happy and contented and used to seeing people, but you will need to be there at first light to see them. To photograph them, stand quietly on the road in full view. If you hide away you will make them spooky as they know you are there but can't see you.
Visit our
Photography on Canvas Art Show
at the Jupiter Town Hall Gallery of Art until September 16, 2008. We have 13 large canvas nature prints on display. This includes the latest Loxahatchee River images and several very special Florida bird prints. There are also 50 or more wonderful paintings from local artists. This is a free art show and should not be missed.
