The 10U Jupiter Hammerheads improved their fall AAU league record to 5-0-1 (8-1-1 overall) with a doubleheader sweep over the Loxahatchee Rattlers. The Hammerheads defeated the Rattlers 8-3 and 20-7 on Sunday October 15 at Jupiter Community Park.
The Hammerheads were in trouble early in the first game, when the Rattlers loaded the bases in the top of the first inning. Pitcher
Troy Wisneski worked out of the jam allowing only one run and the Hammerheads rode that momentum through the day. Jupiter scored two runs in the first inning on doubles from
Hunter Sanicky and
Mack Lemieux. The Hammerheads extended the lead to 6-1 after two innings, scoring four runs in the second keyed by a double from
Harley Sanicky. Pitchers Troy Wisneski,
Ryan Easson, and
Nicholas Horvath combined to allow only one hit in the victory.
The second game was scoreless after one inning when the Hammerheads bats erupted for 16 runs in the second inning. The Hammerheads batters pounded out eight hits in the long inning, highlighted by bases-loaded triples from
Kyle Kennedy and Ryan Easson. Pitchers Nicholas Horvath,
Bruce Steel,
Jordi Sallent, and Mack Lemieux held the Rattlers to three hits.
Hammerheads catcher
Noah Meltzer threw out two Rattlers attempting to steal second base.
Brock Minich reached base four times, scored three runs, and made five putouts in the doubleheader.
Mack Lemiuex finished the doubleheader with three doubles and six runs batted in.
The Hammerheads are scheduled to face the Boca Starz East next Sunday in Boca Raton.
