The 10U Jupiter Hammerheads swept a doubleheader with the Westside Bangers on Sunday April 29 in Jupiter winning 11-4 and 12-1. The Hammerheads raised their AAU League record to 9-1 heading into the final three weeks of doubleheaders before the end of season playoffs.
Brando Centrone led the Hammerhead offensive onslaught collecting five hits, four RBI, and five runs.
Tyler Bowman and
Noah Meltzer had three hits each and combined to score five runs.
Nicholas Horvath,
Brock Minich,
Justin Pittman and
Bruce Steel had two hits each (Horvath and Steel scored four runs and Minch boomed a long triple over the centerfielders head).
Mack Lemieux chipped in with three RBI and three runs scored.
Drew Lipscher and
Joey Merendino rounded out the offense combining to score three runs.
Nicholas Horvath earned the win in game one with two inning pitched allowing no hits and one earned run. Bruce Steel pitched the middle two innings and struck out three Banger batters. Tyler Bowman closed out the victory allowing no earned runs in two innings of work.
Mack Lemieux earned with victory in game two allowing one earned run while striking out three in two innings.
Jordi Sallent and Brando Centrone each pitched scoreless innings allowing only one baserunner each.
In game one, Joey Merendino made three nice plays at second base.
In game two, catcher Noah Meltzer threw a runner out at home after a wild pitch and picked off a baserunner from third base.
