On July 15, Courtney (12) and Chelsea (9) of Lakewood Park are again heading to Lincoln, Nebraska for the Inline Speed Skating National Competition. The girls have managed to bring the "Gold Medal" home to St. Lucie County for three consecutive years. In 2005 Courtney and Chelsea both took 1st place in the 2005 USARS Quad races in their respective age divisions.Chelsea was the Primary Girls Inline Gold Medalist and was successful in achieving her goal of breaking a speed record.
Hannah (4) is the youngest of the Grzech Skating Sisters. She has traveled to all of their skate meets since she was 3 months old. All she has ever wanted is to skate like her sisters. She has with a lot of determination (and a few scrapes and bruises) also earned a place on the starting line at nationals in Lincoln. Hannah will skate in the "Tiny Tot" division and will most likely be the youngest skater. GO HANNAH!! Their parents, Andrea and Robert Grzech will also skate together in the 2-person relay.
The Grzech's are all members of the South Florida Blades Speed team with Harry Stuart and CJ Jones coaching. Mr. Stuart brings with him over 43 years of experience in the sport of roller skating. In this period he has competed in all disciplines of skating, including Speed, Hockey and Artistic - earning three National Championship plaques. He has coached at Skatetown USA since January of 1984 giving him over 20 years of coaching experience. Mr. Stuart is the Past President of the South Florida Speed League and served as the Southern Region Speed Coaches Association Chairman from 1987 through 1989. In 1997 Harry, along with Craig Jones, were named the Southern Region Coaches of the Year. Mr. Stuart owns Skatetown USA Skate Rink on Orange Avenue in Fort Pierce. In his spare time he is a school teacher at Lakewood Park Elementary School.
