LAKEWOOD PARK, Fla. - Last night, Thu. Dec. 15 th, over 35 people gathered for some holiday cheer and to make plans for the 2007 American Cancer Society Relay for Life to be held on April 13 th and 14 th at the Lakewood Park Elementary School.
"Attendees were excited this event was happening in their community," Veronica Torres, Event Chair said.
Along with the usual conversations of where one is on the holiday shopping list, were conversations about those who bravely fought cancer and passed on, those who are currently losing their battle and those who today are survivors. For all of them, attendees hope to make this year a success.
"We had an additional 3 teams sign up last night," Torres said.
Bringing the total to 11 teams means this event has at a minimum raised over $1,000 dollars for the American Cancer Society. Team registration is $100. Torres explained the teams are very competitive and are being coy about the amounts of money they have already raised.
If you would like to register a team or perhaps join an existing team, please contact Veronica at 772-528-7805 or Jeni at 772-708-2885 or visit the event website at
