While traveling north on King's Highway, LogOn found a little piece of Havana in Lakewood Park.
Nestled in the Indrio Crossings shopping plaza, next to the Indrio Gym, this newly-opened restaurant is easy to miss. But once inside, the assortment of Cuban dishes will delight your taste buds and leave you with a taste of Havana you won't soon forget.
I was craving something a little more exotic than the average pizza parlor, and Havana Grill proved to be exactly what I was looking for.
I was relieved to see I wouldn't have to fight the lunch-rush as I crossed the threshold and headed straight for one of the many unoccupied tables The interior was decorated with a Cuban motif, and I felt as if I had escaped to a tropical caf. In no hurry to rush my dining experience, I ordered an iced tea ($1.50) and perused the menu, laden with traditional Cuban entrees.
I ordered an empanada ($1.50) as an appetizer, and I was very pleased with the flaky pastry and sumptuous beef filling. Positively sinful! Since I've had a fair share of traditional Cuban sandwiches, I decided to try something different. The marinated, grilled chicken sandwich ($5.95) with grilled onions, lettuce, tomato, Cuban bread and fries really hit the spot! It was so large, I could only finish half.
For the person on the go, I would suggest the executive lunch buffet ($6.95), served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., which offers a plentiful selection of entrees, soup and sides such as black beans and rice, as well as plantains, fruit and dessert.
Any time of day, you can find a delicious meal at Havana Grill. Breakfast, lunch and dinner all provide diners with diverse menus listing traditional Cuban favorites. Next time I visit the Havana Grill, it will be for Sunday Brunch, served from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. - just one glance at the brunch menu, and my mouth was watering!
Next time you're craving some Cuban cooking, look no further than the Havana Grill.
