Workforce Development Board Promotes Waninger

The Workforce Development Board of the Treasure Coast recently announced the promotion of Michael Waninger to the position of Vice President, Programs and Services.

He will be responsible for the management of the Career Center Managers and staff, Business Center Managers and staff, Mobile Center Services, community-based operations staff, and Program staff. In addition, he will maintain the role of Director of the Business Services Division.

"Michael has enhanced the Board's capability to work with educational and economic development partners to maintain a business climate that is supportive of economic diversification," explained Gwenda Thompson, President and CEO. "His ability to assess employer needs and plan for long-term solutions will be invaluable in the development of relevant programs and services."

Mr. Waninger has served in top executive positions with leading manufacturers including Ford Motor Company, Outboard Marine Corporation, Yamaha Motor and Horton, Inc. Recently, he held the position of Director of Golf Sales for PGA National for the Honda Classic. He is currently a member of the Executive Board for the St. Lucie County Chamber of Commerce serving as the Vice President of Economic Development with oversight of the Business and Industry, Tourism and Strategic Planning Committees.

In addition to nearly three decades professional experience, Mr. Waninger earned his Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and Economics from St. Ambrose University; continued his education working towards his MBA in Marketing from the University of Michigan and Executive Management programs at Harvard Business School and Wharton School of Business.

The Workforce Development Board of the Treasure Coast is a private, 501(c) 3 nonprofit corporation that coordinates workforce solutions for Indian River, Martin, Okeechobee and St. Lucie counties. The mission of the Board is to build an integrated workforce development system for jobseekers and employers by analyzing labor market needs, effectively and efficiently coordinating the delivery of resources, programs and services, and evaluating the results for accountability.
