Mark your calendars for May 17th to attend the Coast Guard Station Fort Pierce Open House. This is an opportunity for the public to visit the station, learn valuable boating safety information and meet the men and women who protect and serve the Treasure Coast.
Along with tours of Coast Guard cutters, interactive displays, Search and Rescue demonstrations, safe boating information, the Smithsonian Marine Station's "touch tank", and local public safety and marine law enforcement agencies, the Coast Guard Auxiliary will also have "Coastie."
For those who aren't familiar with Coastie, he is a pint-sized robotic Coast Guard tugboat that sings, dances, plays music, and tells stories. He is decked out with lights, sirens, bells and whistles. Coastie loves to interact with the public and is a hit with young and old alike. Coastie was developed to enhance public interest and provide a vehicle for conveying boating safety information, particularly to children.
We invite you to meet Coastie in person and enjoy all the other activities by attending the Coast Guard Station Open House at 900 Seaway Drive in Fort Pierce on May 17th.
The open house will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There is no admission charge and parking is free. Food and beverages will be available.
Come on out for a fun-filled and informative day that is sure to please "kids" of all ages!
