Frank the Cat Adopts Cottage One Eleven
Contributed by: Karen Hanawalt on 6/20/2007

June being adopt a cat month led the businesses at Cottage Cottage One Eleven on a search to find the purfect furry feline. One day a call came into the Okeechobee Main Street Office with a tale of an abandoned cat looking for a good home. Program Manager Karen Hanawalt consulted Photographer Rafael Pacheco and Graphic Designer Bridgette Waldau who also have offices at the Cottage. The building is an old cracker style house that was originally built in the 1930's. Over the years there have been many changes, but the building still maintains it's vintage charm. It also contains some unwelcomed mice! So the decision was made to adopt this cat. Sight unseen, this cat was delivered to Mims Animal Hospital for a complete checkup and shots. Karen had the task of picking him up and transporting him to Cottage One Eleven. It was immediate love at first sight. The decision to name him Frank came from the fact that he has beautiful blue eyes, and a take charge attitude. He greets everyone who visits, sits in on board meetings and frankly, has taken ownership of the building. The attached photo was from his first photo shoot, yes he is a star! Frank welcomes anyone who would like to visit the businesses at Cottage One Eleven, 111 NE 2nd Street, Okeechobee. Just keep in mind, he's in charge!
