Domestic Violence Awareness Month
Contributed by: Caren Endriss on 10/14/2008

October is "National Domestic Violence Awareness Month." Each year Molly Maid sponsors it's annual drive - the "Making a Difference Drive." This effort, sponsored by the Ms. Molly Foundation, seeks to provide assistance to local shelters that provide support to the victims of domestic violence in our communities.
Did You Know? -

* One in every four women will experience domestic violence in her lifetime?
* An estimated 1.3 million women are victims of physical assault by an intimate partner each year.
* The majority (73%) of victims are female.
* Boys who witness domestic violence are twice as likely to abuse their own partners and children when they become adults.

How can you help? This week, purchase a few extra personal items such as diapers, shampoo, baby formula, sheets, towels, etc., when you do your household shopping, as a donation to your local shelter. Molly Maid home service professionals are picking up these items from their customers all month, but you can drop off your donations at the office in Stuart, located at 920 SE Central Parkway, 34994. At the month's end, all collected items will be donated to "Safe Space", under the direction of Jill Borowicz, M.S.W.
Tax deductible monetary contributions are always welcome. Contributions can be made by check, payable to the Ms. Molly Foundation, which can be mailed or dropped off at the Stuart location.
On behalf of Molly Maid, the Ms. Molly Foundation and Safe Space, we would like to thank everyone in the community for their support of this year's drive!
