Ordinary people save SUPERMAN
Contributed by: "Capt Joel" Kilmer - Big Dog Comics on 9/3/2008

Somewhere in Cleveland a house still stands...barely. It is the place that dreams and legends were created. Yes it is the childhood home of Jerry Siegel, the man who at 17 years old thought and dreamed of a Hero, a hero that would become a household name, a legend and an Icon.....Superman.

Sadly the town has done little to preserve this historic site. Author and friend Brad Meltzer e-mailed me with this sad story. The following quote says volumes.

"The house where Google was created is saved. The farm where Hewlett Packard was founded is preserved. And Richard Nixon's house is a museum. But the house where Superman - one of the world's most recognized heroes - was created? It's a wreck. It's actually a great old house -- painted bright red and blue (really) -- and owned by one of the kindest elderly couples in the world. But as the neighborhood sank, so did the house. When you walk inside, you feel like your foot might go through the floor. The roof is flawed. The paint is a mess. When you look up at the ceiling, you see the exposed rafters overhead. It's a mess. Worst of all, the city of Cleveland let it happen. As the owner told me, "They won't even give us a plaque. Not even a plaque to say, 'This is where Superman was created.'" - Brad Meltzer

This is where you, one person can be a hero too. Take a few moments to check out OrdinaryPeopleChangeTheWorld. com and see what you can do, or check out the following link http://www. youtube. com/watch?v=25R2kcJxQuc and listen to what Brad hopes we, you and I can do to save something more rare than Kryptonite.

There are few things or people that are recognizable world wide, but Superman is known far and wide, by young and old. Pull back your shirt, open your heart and help save the birthplace of a hero. Then tell your friends "I am Superman" because the dream lives in everyone.
Thanks to everyone,
