"Stormy weather" was not in their repertoire!
Despite rainy and drizzly conditions, the celebrated Hidden Oaks Middle School Jazz Ambassadors under the direction of Mr. Allen Gilbert; played a selection of favorites Saturday, November 27, 2006 at the Downtown Stuart Antique Auto Show during the Fall Fest.
The HOMS Jazz Band is a Community performing group that are Ambassadors to our HOMS Band Program, and often get called upon to perform for various Community events. The Jazz Band normally consists of students that have auditioned, and range from 6th - 8th grade.
For this first performance of the year, we were afforded the special guest appearance by one [1] student from Anderson Middle school, and the Trumpet section leader from Martin County High School's Tiger Regiment. All of the students and families give of their time to practice and perform with this group, this is an after school activity and we are grateful to all of the parents that support the efforts of these young musicians that so generously give of their time to serve the Community and represent their school.
The Band played several "Jazz" favorites, such as; "September".
The best was when the crowd started dancing to their rendition of
"Y.M.C.A."!
The next opportunity to hear some of these talented musicians, and see what excellence is offered in the Martin County School District in the Middle School Band Programs, please contact Hidden Oaks Middle School772-219-1655.

Without the continued support of the Hidden Oaks Middle School Band parents, and Mr. Gilbert's dedication to providing this service, the HOMS Jazz Band would not be possible.
