LOCAL BONSAI ENTHUSIAST RECEIVES HONOR
Contributed by: Joyce Snodgrass on 3/19/2008

On March 19th, Joyce Snodgrass of Palm City and Port St. Lucie delivered one of her bonsai trees, a pyracantha comeles, to the Disney World/Epcot Flower Festival to be on display in the Meadow in the Japan pavilion until June 1, 2008. The Disney bonsai committee accepts applications and pictures of bonsai by December 31st each year and chooses approximately 30. Bonsai are displayed in the China pavilion as well as the Japan pavilion. Some members of the committee have stated that they had some outstanding examples of bonsai to choose from to display at the 2008 Flower Festival.

Joyce started learning about bonsai from Robert Pinder of Dragon Tree Bonsai in Palm City, 8 years ago and has become an avid bonsai hobbiest. "I have learned a lot from Robert and try to expand my knowledge at every opportunity. I feel honored that the committee saw the beauty in this tree making it worthy of showing. I have had it in training only about 4 years but it is about 35 years old. I have a few others that I think will eventually be ready to submit for this exciting honor."
