It all started with a "click" of the mouse. Who knew that my life would be forever transformed thanks to the power of cyberspace? Like a lot of single young professionals, I had grown tired of the bar scene and dead end dates. Searching for my "one" nearly became like a second full time job for which I wasn't even getting "paid" for. Then it happened.
You would think that the thing that drew me to respond to Rob's on-line personal add was his absolutely handsome face or the fact that he looked dapper in his Army fatigues. Maybe it was his kind smile and sparkling blue eyes. No; it was the fact that he made my heart laugh. I'm not talking small chuckles either. From the start and to this day, every day, he gives me great
big
belly laughs like no other. In his personal ad on Match.com (which was short and sweet since he'll tell you he hates to type) he mentioned he liked scuba diving, pizza and tacos, that the "sexiest part of his body" (jokingly) is his belly button and that he had just returned home to Stuart after serving in Afghanistan for a year and a half. Before even meeting Rob in person I felt like he would be the breath of fresh air that I needed in my life to renew my faith in love. I knew that I was ready to let love into my life and Rob gave that to me effortlessly. From our first face to face meeting at the Ashley in downtown Stuart on a muggy summer's night, I knew he'd be more than just an Internet connection. The sweetest surprise I've ever been given was by him on our first meeting; and it only cost a dollar! At the end of our date he started rustling to pull out his wallet and I wasn't sure why. I stood there kind of puzzled, not sure of what was happening, then he handed me a Lotto ticket. He remembered that I joked as we Instant Messaged each other a few days prior that we'd better meet in person soon because I was going to be his "winning Lottery ticket" and he shouldn't miss out. Our first date still hasn't ended and we both have ended up being winners! I grow more happy, more content and more thankful each day for him as we plan and begin our life's journey together. I celebrate him every day, so Valentine's Day is
everyday
in our household. (Though in reality this Valentine's Day will infact be our first since this time last year Rob was helping defend our freedom overseas in Afghanistan.) I never would have dreamed that the Internet could bring us a lasting love, but thankfully, it has. You just never know; the love of your life could be just a button click away.
