Palm City Leukemia Survivor Kevin Edwards
Contributed by: Don McGlynn on 8/29/2006

Palm City Leukemia Survivor is a Local Hero
Please Support Him (And Other Area Patients & Survivors) Through "Team in Training"

August 29, 2006

Dear Treasure Coast Neighbor,

On January 7 th, 2007, I'm going to complete the Disney Marathon in Orlando as a member of "Team in Training"( www.teamintraining.org) to support leukemia research and treatment. Over the next five months, you may see me running our streets as I train, and I need your tax-deductible donation to help me raise $2300.00.

How's that for getting directly to the point? If you're already convinced to help out, please skip down to the last paragraph.

OK Don, Why are you doing this? Thanks for asking.

1)My Altruistic Reason: Just over one year ago, Kevin Edwards, a 45 year old PalmCity resident, found out at the Martin Memorial Hospital Emergency Room that he was afflicted with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL). In the not-too-distant past, his diagnosis was an almost certain "death sentence." Kevin underwent a five month cutting-edge treatment of chemotherapy, partially made possible through the efforts of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Kevin, (who I saw last week), is a survivor who is thankful for the progressive treatment he received.

2)My Personal Reason: Over the years, I have worked with 2 individuals who are blood cancer survivors. Both of these survivors have been some of the most optimistic and upbeat people I have had the pleasure to know.

3)My Selfish Reason: I turned 40 a few months ago and need a good motivator to lose weight and get back in shape! What better waydothis thanhelping others?

OK Don, How can I help?

Please donate what you can afford. $25 covers a chemo patient's prescription co-payment. $50 pays to register a bone marrow donor. $75 provides bone marrow typing for a family member of a leukemia patient. $100 will help pay to transport a patient like Kevin to a qualified hospital for treatment. The easiest way to donate is through our secure on-line system. Point your web browser to:

Or send me an email ( mcglynndon@hotmail.com) and I'll send you the contributionlink. If you prefer to "snail mail" your contribution, please make your check out to the "Leukemia & Lymphoma Society" and mail it to my attentionat 5156 SW Bimini Cir S, Palm City, FL 34990. On behalf of Kevin, and the thousands of other blood cancer patients, I thank you for your support.

Sincerely,
Don McGlynn, Palm City
