Helping People Succeed (HPS) is accepting donations to assist the family of Aubrey Felker Opdyke, who remains in critical condition after contracting H1N1 (Swine Flu) virus about three weeks ago.
HPS Executive Director Suzy Hutcheson said Opdyke is a former employee, who worked as a Family Support Worker for the Healthy Families project, handling cases between 2006 and 2008. She left the agency in 2008 after her marriage to Bryan Opdyke and the couple moved to West Palm Beach.
Aubrey Opdyke is in Wellington Regional Hospital where she was taken when she was diagnosed with swine flu and was pregnant at the time. She recently underwent an emergency c-section to deliver her baby at 28 weeks. Baby Parker Christine Opdyke died following the surgery.
Husband Bryan Opdyke is on leave of absence from his UPS job to be at his wife's bedside. Their 4-year-old daughter, Hope, is staying with family members.
Hutcheson said Helping People Succeed staff members have been in touch with Opdyke's family and are following her progress. "They have no income now and the bills are mounting," said Hutcheson. "We are inviting you to help."
Anyone who wishes to help with family expenses can send a donation directly to Helping People Succeed at P.O. BOX 597, Stuart, FL. 34995. It will be turned over to the family.
Donations can also be made at Wachovia Bank - Christine A. Opdyke, FBO Aubrey and Bryan Opdyke, Account No. 1010251053303, where an account has been established for the family.
Helping People Succeed, formerly Tri-County TEC, is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization that provides unique and valuable services to assist citizens in improving their quality of life and independence through community-based education and training programs. The organization serves Martin, St. Lucie, Indian River and Okeechobee counties.
