The GFWC of Stuart Gains 104 Pounds!

STUART, FL - On Wednesday, October 21, 2009, over 60 women of the Stuart Chapter of the General Federation of Women's Clubs (GFWC) "gained" 104 pounds of non-perishable food, and $100 in cash donations for the Martin County Council on Aging. Guests and members generously donated books, magazines and non-perishable food items in honor of the club's guest speaker for October, Bonnie Ares Royster, CFRE, Director of Development. Royster conveyed staff and client appreciation to GFWC of Stuart, for their support of the on-going programs offered to the residents of Martin County by the Council on Aging. Additionally, Royster shared with the women a story that was featured in their Newsletter, "Engaged in Life Through Her Pets...An interview with Ruth, a Meals on Wheels Client," that touched the hearts of every animal lover in the audience. Council on Aging also provides, Meals on Wheels, Adult Day Care, Geriatric Care Management, plus 17 additional services for seniors, and their families. "Girlfriends" (a group of philanthropic, working mothers, and professional women) hosted their second meeting at the Women's Club of Stuart club house located at 729 East Ocean Boulevard in Downtown Stuart on October 27, 2009, at 11:30 a.m. The "Girlfriends" will be hosting several events in November and December in order to raise much-needed revenue for the GFWC of Stuart's Scholarship campaign, monthly contributions to local charities, and club house renovations. The first event to be hosted by the group will be; the Girl's Night Out at the Treasure Coast Square Mall on Thursday, November 12, 2009, from 6p-9p.
