The Women's Club of Stuart Off to a Historic Start!

STUART, FL - On Wednesday, September 16, 2009, the Women's Club of Stuart kicked-off their 96 th year of service to the community with their first meeting of the 2009/2010 season. The first meeting was held at the Women's Club of Stuart Clubhouse located at 729 East Ocean Boulevard in Downtown Stuart at 11:30 a.m. The very first meeting over 50 women attended, with new President, Pat Schmader presiding, and declaring 2009-2010 the year of: "helping to end domestic abuse; whether it be toward women, children the elderly, or animals." Lunch was prepared by Monica's Café` and Bakery and Chris Sawicki from the Stuart Heritage Museum offered the ladies a short history lesson in the long-standing relationship between the city of Stuart, and the Women's Club of Stuart. The group celebrated inducting three new members, and gave out prizes for the best hats. In addition, the ladies are looking forward to all of the great things to come in the coming months. The first is the Bealls Fashion Show that will be held at the Women's Club of Stuart Club House on September 23, 2009, at 12 noon and is $25pp. For more information, please contact Pam Brown (772) 781-6058.

For October, (Breast Cancer Awareness Month), the Women's Club of Stuart will host two separate fundraisers for the Pink Tie Friends. The first; a Gold Party where guests and members can bring in their gold for "recycling" and earn a little extra $$, and some for a very worthy cause. The event will be: Sunday, October 18, 2009, from 2p - 4p, at the Women's Club of Stuart Club House. For more information, guests may contact event Chair, Fern Spivy at 772-781-3348.

Secondly, the much anticipated Holiday Boutique. The event will be held October 23 rd & 24 th at the Women's Club of Stuart Club House, and is $10pp for the Friday evening wine tasting and "sneak-peek" only. The Saturday event is FREE, and open to the public from 9a-2p. Vendor booths, sponsorship and volunteer opportunities are still available. All proceeds from this annual event go to the many local charities that the Women's Club of Stuart supports. Your participation and attendance are very much appreciated. The Women's Club of Stuart is the oldest organization to operate continuously in Martin County. It is also the largest Women's Club in District 10 of the Florida Federation of Women's Clubs. In 1914, the Women's Club of Stuart joined the Florida Federation of Women's Clubs. The club is part of a larger non-profit social and political advocacy organization, the General Federation of Women's Clubs (GFWC). With "Unity in Diversity" as its motto and a strong umbrella of programs that clubs may adapt to suit the needs of their communities, GFWC encourages the flexibility that has enabled it to expand its reach in a rapidly changing society. Finally, all women on the Treasure Coast are also invited to attend the regular meetings that are held Sept. - May the 3 rd Wednesday of each month.
