Guests at The Fur Seasons Resort celebrated Independence Day in true "Yankee Doodle Doggy" style! Races for dogs of all sizes were held in Central Bark in the morning and Sam B., a Golden Doodle from Palm Beach Gardens, and Bentley S., a Labradoodle from Palm City, won the Big Dog Race. The races were followed by a spirited game of Frisbee which had 13 participants. The swim party included catching balls for prizes such as a free day of day care and a free spa treatment.
At lunchtime, everyone enjoyed Pupperoni and Beggin Strips treats. Later, the James Cagney classic "Yankee Doodle Dandy" was shown in the Playroom. Approximately 35 friendly guests assembled for the movie. Several dogs sang along with tunes in the movie. Boru and Cody R., two senior guests who are spending the summer at the resort, napped and snored through the entire film, causing some of the viewers to become annoyed - they left the play room and returned to their private bedrooms where they listened to Aaron Neville and Billy Joel on the in-house music system.
In the late afternoon, the dogs met in their respective play rooms where they donned bandanas and hats and had their photographs taken. All party-goers went home with a red-white-and-blue bandana and a special July 4th treat made by Starbarks Bakery for the occasion.
