WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (April 22, 2008) --- As the economic momentum of Downtown West Palm Beach continues to grow, more businesses are now calling the Clematis District home. Five new dining and nightlife destinations,
Club Cocoon, Pistache, Massa on Clematis and
Crepe City, have opened or are scheduled to open this spring.
Adding to the District's dynamic nightlife scene, the highly anticipated hotspot
Club Cocoon recently opened at 114 S. Narcissus Ave. Bruce Sutka, one of Florida's premiere creative masterminds, is the magician behind every detail of the interior design. The 3,700 sq. ft. establishment is an upscale cross between a nightclub and a lounge, designed to appeal to an older patron. The space, complete with two bars, is designed after its namesake, with private booths that envelope patrons and a slightly whimsical yet sophisticated design that will offer a surprising change every few months. Club Cocoon also features local celebrity DJ Jean Marc spinning music on a regular basis. For more information, please call (561) 779-8229.
To add to the Clematis District's international array of dining options, restaurateur Thierry Beaud, who has two decades of experience at upscale dining establishments such as The Breakers, Café L'Europe and Seasons 52, has teamed up with Chef de Cuisine Jean-Pierre Petit to open
Pistache, a Parisian-style bistro located at 101 N. Clematis St. The restaurant, which recently opened, is outfitted with plush leather banquettes, oversized antique mirrors, a
plein-air patio (outdoor café) and a full-service, mahogany brass bar that evokes the best of Paris.
Menu items feature an array of freshly prepared authentic Parisian-style dishes. Lunch options include salade niçoise, toasted paninis, steak tartare as well as grilled chicken and fish. Dinner options include classic favorites such as onion soup gratinée, bouillabaisse, roasted half chicken au jus, croque-monsieur (French-style open-face grilled ham and cheese sandwich) and the signature Pistache hot dog toasted on baguette bread with melted Gruyère cheese. Pommes frites (French fries) are made fresh, all day long. For those who leave room for dessert, profiteroles, crème brulée and apple tatin are big enough to share, but also come in a mini portion for just $2.50.
Pistache serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as brunch on the weekends, and is open daily from 7:30 a.m. until 12 a.m. (1 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays). For more information, please visit

With an emphasis on delicious food and reasonable prices,
Massa on Clematis, which recently opened at 300 Clematis St. (the former Power Smoothie location), features a combination of American, Italian and French fare. Owner Julian Dranga, who has a passion for combining a variety of ethnic flavors, said he opened Massa on Clematis because he wants to reach everyone with good food at affordable prices. Menu items include sandwiches, paninis, soups, salads, crepes and ice cream, all priced less than $7.99. The restaurant, which features carry out and delivery service plus limited outdoor seating, is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Wednesday; 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursdays;11 a.m. to 3 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays; and is closed on Sundays. For more information, please call (561) 655-1083 or (561) 655-1084.
CrepeCity, another fast-casual eatery scheduled to open in May 2008 at 300 S. Dixie Highway, Suite 314, will feature a variety of homemade crepes - perfect for breakfast, lunch, dinner or dessert. In addition to the traditional ingredients of chocolate and fruit, the expansive crepe menu will include Florentine, chicken and mushroom, plus stroganoff and red wine sauce, all for less than $9. An assortment of Italian and Cuban coffees also will be available.
Owners Nancy (Bibi) Samaroo and Omar Morcote decided to open the restaurant because they share a love of crepes and recognized a growing demand.
"Patrons of Clematis are always looking for new excitement and healthy dining options," said Samaroo, who is the daughter of an international chef and also owned a restaurant in her native Colombia. "Downtown West Palm Beach is the perfect location for Crepe City because we offer delicious, healthy meals at affordable prices."
The restaurant's contemporary décor will offer patrons a comfortable, chic setting to dine-in.
Crepe City will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 4 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays; and 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sundays. For more information, call (561) 366-1233.
