CHOOSING THE RIGHT SALON
Contributed by: Tasha Chen on 2/27/2008

It's a common predicament: You need to have your hair done but you don't know where to go. With so many choices, knowing WHAT to look for when selecting a salon can be daunting.

Here are a few things to consider when deciding on the Salon that's right for you.

  1. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Consider how you are greeted over the phone when you call to enquire about services. Did you receive an enthusiastic and genuinely inviting greeting within 10 - 20 seconds of your arrival? "The customer experience is crucial to our Salon's Success. We are constantly being educated on how to improve customer service and use our technical training to enhance the customer's impression of our Salon" says Linda Badala the customer service award winner in the Palm City Salon.
  1. CLEAN AND UPDATED: Cleanliness of the salon should rank very high in importance to you when choosing a salon. Is the hair being swept and removed between customers, are clean towels used, are barbicide jars for storing used combs being cleaned regularly? Is the Salon updated with pictures of current styles for you to reference?
  1. STYLIST APPEARANCE: When you walk into the Salon what is your first impression of the stylists? Do they appear professionally dressed and groomed? Do they act and speak professionally? Professionalism indicates the stylists respect their trade and their customers and recognize that they are in a professional setting.
  1. THOROUGH CONSULTATION: Remember the salon visit should be about YOU! How much time is being spent listening to what you want done? How many questions are they asking to get a thorough understanding of your needs? Are they able to make recommendations and give alternate ideas? Be cautious of stylists who use YOUR salon visit to talk about themselves.
  1. EDUCATION: Think of your stylists as your hair Doctor. They should have the ability to assess your lifestyle needs, condition of your hair, shape of your face, tone of your skin and educate you on the services that would work to enhance your look. Enquire about education they are receiving so you can be assured they are remaining technically updated.
