TCU u-18 boys Finalist at Norcross Nike Cup SoccerTournament!
The 2006 Norcross Nike Cup tournament was held the weekend of December 2- 3. This tournament attracts some of the most competitive boys and girls teams in the country.
College Showcasing
This year, the Norcross Nike Cup had 52 colleges in attendance from all around the Southeast. This event provides the U16 through U19 age groups a tremendous opportunity to showcase their talent for coaches looking to fill their rosters.
The
Norcross Nike Cup COLLEGE SHOWCASE represents a significant way to gain exposure.
Treasure Coast United sent 33 players in 2 teams to Atlanta. The u-18s and the younger u-16's playing in their first College Showcase. The u-16's went
0-1-2 for their first showcase experience.
Below is a summary of the u-18s Showcase experience.
Game 1
Sat Dec 2 12:30pm
TCU wins 2-1 over Dayton Ohio
On a early first half goal by Kyle Conrad TCU was in control and leading 1-0. With 10 minutes to go in the game Dayton Ohio equalizes on a counter. With TCU feeling some urgency Edvin Worley gets the winner in the final minute of play assisted by Kyle Conrad
Game 2

TCU wins 2-1 over Cobb FC Atlanta
The TCU u-18s get a HUGE win over Cobbs 18s.
TCU started out strong with 2 goals in the first half one by Kyle Conrad and the other by Emerick Witkowski assisted by Spencer Scott. Playwas very physical in the second half with Cobb forcing an own goal by TCU's defense. This match had many college recruiters in attendance and was a featured game in the tournament!

TCU wins 2-1 over Charlottesville Lightning
TCU 18s came from behind with goals by Worley and Fitzpatrick to win the third game of the Norcross Tournament. This win placed TCU in the
championship game!

TCU loses a thriller in the final minute of play!
The final was a very good display of attacking and counter attacking soccer. The teams played possession with some direct attacking mixed in. Game was physical but fair play by both sides.
In the final minute of the first half Team Ohio earned a free kick from 35 yards out on the right side of the field. With TCU marking Team Ohio's players the Ohio player drilled a line drive ball 3 feet off the ground and deflected off the far post to beat the TCU keeper. The free kick was a screamer! Team Ohio goes into the half up 1-0 over TCU.
The second half opened with very good play again by both teams. As time was drawing down TCU again feeling urgency started applying pressure earning corners and drawing fouls from Team Ohio. With five minutes of play remaining Jason Schaumburg served in a free kick with Gio Jimenez getting the equalizer goal off a driven header. With the game tied and only 1 minute remaining before a certain over time period Team Ohio carried the ball through the midfield into the attacking third of the field. The Ohio player was able to get a driven cross from left to right scoring the game wining goal in the final minute of play.
