Game # 7 Championship game 3:00pm

TCU loses 5-3 in Final!

This was a game of 2 halves! TCU was leading 3-0 into the 43 minute!

The 7 th game of the tournament had the TCU u-18 boys up against the u-19 Clearwater Chargers. Many of the Clearwater players are already college soccer players that came back together over the Christmas Holidays to play in the Sun bowl. TCU was clearly the underdog coming in with eight u-17's and nine u-18's on the roster. Clearwater had advantage in every position with height and speed.

The first 5 minutes of play had each team feeling each other out. It was obvious that Clearwater was dangerous on the counter attack! TCU started applying pressure and attacking. In the 15 th minute the Clearwater GK was unable to handle a difficult ball and Giovanni Jimenez came in to slot the ball near post for his first goal of the tournament. 2 minutes later after some hard play by Trevor Monroe TCU's Kyle Conrad takes the ball from the left to right and drives in the second goal of the half for TCU. TCU's defense continues to come up with some big plays to keep Clearwater at bay. In the 35 th minuteTCU's Nic Nyssen scores the 3 goal of the half for TCU on some very determined play. In the 43 rd minute on an obvious Clearwater off sides (3 players off) that was not called TCU's Harry Gillespie made an incredible run to recover and break up the play. The referee went straight Red. Clearwater scored on the free kick just outside the box to end the half with TCU 3-1 over Clearwater. The second half had the smaller TCU team now trying to defend with only 10 men. Clearwater scored on some nice passing through larges spaces in only 7 minutes of play. Clearwater scored there 3rd goal on another obvious off sides that the referee failed to see. (3 players off). TCU continued playing hard and were unable to stop Clearwater. It seemed every hard play was a foul called against TCU. The game ended with TCU playing with 10 men for 47 minutes against a very good Clearwater chargers u-19 team. The man down disadvantage was too much for the TCU u-18s to over come.

TCU ended the tournament 6-1 Tampa Bay Sun Bowl Finalist!
