Martin County Tigers win against top seeded West Boca 1-0 in tonight's Class 5A District 14 Championship Game!

The Tigers finished the regular season 12-6-3 and then swept the Class 5A District 14 Tournament 3-0. The Tigers have played the last 14 games with out a loss.

Tonight's game was exciting from the opening whistle. Play was physical and hard by both sides. The Tigers were playing a more direct style of attacking soccer with West Boca playing possession with crisp passing. The Tigers defenders of Josh Smithwick, Scott Blair and Brian Rottman held strong and allowed only 3 saves by GK Lyle Dankenbring. The physical half ended 0-0

The second half opened with each team feeling the need to get on the board. In the 58 th minute with Jared Greenbaum applying defensive pressure he dispossessed a West Boca defender and carried the ball to the top of the box and scored a beautiful goal to beat the West Boca keeper. With West Boca feeling urgency they added another attacker and started pushing hard. The Tigers midfield and defenders played strong and applied counter attacks to West Boca's attempts. The Tigers Defense held strong with Lyle Dankenbring notching 5 saves in the second half of which 2 were spectacular! In the 84 th minute with the crowd on its feet the Referee blows the whistle to end the game.

The Martin County Tigers win 1-0 over West Boca to become the 2007 Class 5A District 14 Champions.
