For the second year in a row, Rush Paintball represented south Florida paintball at the 14th Annual Kids Fitness Festival sponsored by the Palm Beach Sports Commission.
"It's great to see all these kids participating in all these sports," said Rush Paintball owner Don Guest. A conservative estimate of 6,000 kids visited the festival this year, which was held at the South Florida Fairgrounds.
"We probably had most of those kids come through our booth," said Guest, "Some visited us more than once." Even Burnie, the Miami Heat mascot and Billy the Marlin got some paintball action.
Rush Paintball, which is located 15 minutes west of Jupiter in northern Palm Beach county is switching gears. "We want to support more of the groups that support our kids and community, so we are starting a sponsorship program. We will sponsor up to 8 non profit groups a month to play paintball for free," explained Guest. "The only expense the groups will have to cover will be the paintballs, food and drinks. All equipment and entrance fees will be sponsored."
The Kids Fitness Festival gave Rush Paintball the perfect venue to invite the new groups, with the great number of summer camps, schools and other non profit organizations that attend the Fitness Festival each year. "We have always supported our community. We have given over 40 gift certificates away to schools, PTO's and churches that have used them in auctions to support the children in our community. Now we're just taking it up a notch."
Rush Paintball is willing to accommodate any non profit group. All they have to do is call.
Rush Paintball is in the process of changing to a non profit organization and will be moving to a new location by the end of the year. In their new location, included will be other activities--an obstacle course, a petting zoo, hiking trails, archery, RC racing. "We want to have children out that usually don't get to see and do these kind of things,"said Guest, "I also want to get all these kids out from in front of the TV and the video games."
