the elusive Quetzals
Contributed by: robert swan on 8/31/2006

Our recent vacation was to Costa Rica, a beautiful and fascinating country.

We were always on the lookout for animals and birds especially the elusive quetzal. Some people are happy to see one but we were lucky and had a fantastic guide who knew the area and we spotted seven quetzals. We saw white face monkeys, howler monkeys, many kinds of lizards and crocodile

We wore protective gear to be safe, but looked strange, for the zip line in the forest tree tops. Our driver Oscar got his workout by putting our luggage on top of the bus. A coffee plantation was one of the many places we had the chance to experience. We saw and experienced so much it would take a full book to describe this vacation. You know it is a great vacation when your 12 year old grandson, is having fun; even though he is the only kid, doesn't have video games, and when there is a TV most of the programs are in Spanish.
