211 Palm Beach/Treasure Coast will hold a
Teen Ambassador Training on Friday, August 10th, 2007 from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm at the Martin County United Way in Stuart. Martin County teens can earn community service hours while helping fellow students, parents, teachers, and others learn to use 211 as a valuable resource and problem solving tool. 211 Palm Beach/Treasure Coast is a non-profit organization, which has been in operation since 1971 in Palm Beach County and since 2002 on the Treasure Coast. 211 is a confidential, non-judgmental telephone helpline that provides information, referral, crisis intervention, suicide prevention, as well as telephone counseling for people experiencing personal problems, emotional distress, or any other type of crisis. These services are provided at no cost and are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Locally, 211 Palm Beach/Treasure Coast is able to assist any individual living in Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie, Okeechobee, and Indian River Counties. With access to more than 4,200 programs and over 1,500 different organizations within the 5 county area served, 211 is for any individual who may find themselves in a situation without knowing who to contact to obtain information or answers to problems they are facing.
