Red Cross Seeking Youth Leaders
Contributed by: Dorothy Kamm, Yates & Associates on 8/15/2008

As a new school year begins, American Red Cross Youth volunteers should consider applying to become a Junior Leadership Development Center (JLDC) staff member. "We are looking for 25 to 30 youth to facilitate two JLDC's. One will be organized at Hobe Sound Elementary, the other at The Pine School," said Crystal Knezek, Director of Youth Services. Students will take part in a three month training course to learn how to facilitate the events. Jordan Gallas, a junior at Martin County High School, is the JLDC director for this school year.

Meetings will be held on Mondays, and occasionally on a Wednesday. Meetings are mandatory. Applications will be available starting August 18. The deadline is September 6 at the Red Cross Back to School Bash.

"The youth who are chosen serve as role models for their peers," said Knezek. "The JLDC inspires the students to become more involved with the Red Cross while training to be future leaders. We are very pleased to offer this program to the youth of Martin County," added Knezek.
