Peter (the owner and captain of My Other Honey) took me out fishing last week. It was one of the most amazing things I have ever done in my entire life! I have lived in Martin County almost all my life and have spent a lot of time on the water. We all know that Port Salerno is considered the "sailfish capital of the world" and captain Peter can prove it!
We left the Manatee Marina at seven a.m. and headed off shore. By the end of our half day of fishing he brought me back to the dockphysically worn out. I even had fish bloodall over my shoes which kind ofgrossed me out. We caught dozens of dolphin, a black fin tuna, and yes a sailfish was pulled into the boat that was bigger than me. Being the chicken that I am I ran up the tuna tower to get away from the fish.
Peter and his first mate Chris told me I would be safe on their boat and they meant it. Peter used to be a commercial swordfisherman like those guys you see on the Discovery Channel. He can handel just about anyemergency that could happenon his boat. He even had medicine to take if I got sea sick.
It was a day I will never forget! Peter charters his boat for half days, full days, and if you are lucky he may even take you to theBahamas. Just remember to rest up, wear your sun block, and hold on to your hat!
