CHALLENGER DIVISION BASEBALL A BIG HIT!
Contributed by: jill marasa on 1/6/2007

The Challenger Division of Little League Baseball for the treasure coast area held registrations this past week, with 20 children registering to participate in the program. The children were very excited to receive their batting helmet, get fitted for new uniforms, and are ready to play baseball!

The Challenger Division of Little League Baseball is a program for mentally and physically disabled youth to enjoy the full benefits of little league participation in an athletic environment structured to their abilities. The program will provide girls and boys, ages 5 through 22, the opportunity to participate in a safe playing environment, with the focus of having fun while learning the game of baseball.

The program will also include a "buddy" system, in which youth volunteers assist players throughout the season to ensure their safety and success.

There is no fee to participate in the Challenger Division, and each player will be provided with a complete uniform and all equipment.

The next registration will be held on Saturday, January 13th from 10:00 am
until 2:00 p.m. at Halpatiokee Park in Stuart. Registrations will be held by the concession stand at the ball fields. Please visit our website at www.eteamz.com/mcn for registration and contact information.

We would like to thank our wonderful community members who have supported our program through sponsorships: U.S. Paverscape, Keiser University, Elite Design and Remodeling Center and The Law Office of Mark Rodgers.

If you are interested in volunteering, or would like to become a sponsor, please contact Jill Marasa at 772-288-6948.
