Robb & Stucky and Breakers Row win PRISM award
Contributed by: Robin Bell on 10/1/2009

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. - Robb & Stucky Interiors was commissioned to create a turn-key solution for a unique long-term rental apartment at The Breakers Palm Beach to help revitalize the property's interior design elements. Breakers Row offers the privacy of a home away from home with all the amenities and benefits of living at one of North America's iconic resort destinations. Inspired by its tropical oceanfront location, the design captures the casual sophistication, lifestyle and charm of the island of Palm Beach and reflects the upscale resort-style experience associated with the property.

The Robb & Stucky design team of Elaine Gildersleeve and Derick Bolinder drew inspiration from the stunning ocean views and fashioned an interior design neutral enough to resonate with a variety of design tastes, casual enough to be a Florida-style retreat and sophisticated enough to meet the client's expectations. The result: a transitional décor with a spa blue and green palette that reflects the gradating tones of the ocean. Framing the ocean backdrop are luxurious shimmering silk window panels accented with soft green and light blue banding. For texture and visual interest two plush chenille pouf ottomans were introduced and placed side by side on the outer rim of the area rug. Two large oversized sofas create a useful conversation area, while providing ample seating accommodating multiple guests. The large circular balcony provided the perfect space for outdoor living. The balcony features a contemporary outdoor dining set for eight and two swivel chairs for guests to enjoy the vast panoramic ocean vista.

The challenge for this interior design team was to create a dynamic ambience under a tight deadline for a varied and discerning clientele. The team successfully achieved this though a transitional design style and by capitalizing on the best visual asset of the unit, the ocean view.

The collaboration resulted in an award-wining design. Robb & Stucky Interiors and Breakers Row were awarded a Silver PRISM in the category of "Best Living Room for a Low Rise Condominium" by Gold Coast Builders Association.
