THE BENJAMIN SCHOOL APPOINTS NEW HEAD OF SCHOOL

The Benjamin School in northern Palm Beach County announces the appointment of Robert S. Goldberg as the new Head of School beginning in the summer of 2008.

Mr. Goldberg is a career educator with a distinguished resume and decades of experience at independent schools serving in nearly every capacity from teacher to Head of School. He taught Spanish at Haddonfield Memorial High School and later at the Pingry School in New Jersey, followed by the position of Foreign Language Department Head at the McDonogh School in Baltimore, Maryland. Mr. Goldberg's experience in Florida began as Upper School Head of the Canterbury School in Ft. Myers in the mid nineties. He joined the Pine Crest School in 1999 as Academic Dean and subsequently became Upper School Head, Assistant Head of School, Head of School for the Ft. Lauderdale campus, and most recently, the Head of School for the Boca Ration campus.

"I am looking forward to becoming a member of this pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade academic community, continuing to learn from and hopefully contribute to another extraordinary independent school," said the 56-year-old Goldberg. "Benjamin is an exceptional institution, considered one of the top schools in the state, and I am honored, more so than I have ever been in my career, to be given the opportunity to be its next Head of School."

Mr. Goldberg attained his undergraduate degree from Temple University and his Masters from Rutgers University. He is currently on the Board of Directors of the Florida Council of Independent Schools.

"Over the past six months, The Benjamin School's Search Committee which consisted of trustees, faculty, administrators, parents and alumni, vetted potential candidates, and it became clear that Mr. Goldberg was our top candidate," said Daniel W. Stanton, Chairman of The Benjamin School's Board of Trustees. "We are fortunate to have found someone with pre-kindergarten to 12 th grade experience and a knowledge of Florida and our immediate area."

The Benjamin School, a pre-kindergarten through grade 12 independent school, has a curriculum focusing on college preparatory education. The Benjamin School has two campuses, one in North Palm Beach which houses classes for pre-kindergarten through eighth grade, and the high school campus located in Palm Beach Gardens.
