(October 26, 2009 - Boca Raton, FL) Dan Guin, Executive Director & Co-Artistic Director for Boca Ballet Theatre, today announced that the nonprofit organization has been named a recipient of a $25,000 Federal Stimulus Grant.
"This is a great honor for Boca Ballet Theatre, and a powerful affirmation of both our cultural excellence and financial stability, particularly during this tough economic time" said Guin. "Of the 3,000 initial applicants for this stimulus grant, only 27 arts organizations in Florida have been named recipients."
Only two cultural organizations in Palm Beach County are receiving this particular grant: Boca Ballet Theatre and the Henry Morrison Flagler Museum.
These grants are funded through the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act of 2009 and the National Endowment for the Arts. "The Florida Arts Recovery Program provides much-needed funding for cultural organizations throughout the state," said Secretary of State Kurt Browning. "The positions preserved by these grants are critical to Florida's economic recovery, and contribute to a high quality of life for Floridians and visitors to the state."
Boca Ballet Theatre recently announced its 2009-2010 dance season, with all performances to be held at FAU's University Theatre, 777 Glades Road in Boca Raton. The upcoming season will include:
+ The Nutcracker - November 27-29, 2009
+ Spring Serenade - March 27-28, 2010
+ Giselle - July 30-August 1, 2010
